Kar Huey is an artist who sustained a spinal cord injury which resulted in paralysis of her legs and limited hand function. Despite the challenges she faced, Kar Huey remains passionate about creativity and craftsmanship.

The SPD Artisan Collaboration is an initiative under the SPD Sheltered Workshop that has provided employment and training opportunities for persons with disabilities since 1964. For over a decade, their team of craftspeople has brought their unique skills to creating artisanal journals and restoring old books, giving them a new lease of life. In addition to the book bindery, they have a succession of younger persons with disabilities being trained in leather-crafting, stitching together lifestyle products perfect as gifts for friends, loved ones, and corporate partners.
