Introducing Kampong Kakis! 🌱🇸🇬
This youth-led initiative is passionate about bringing heritage learning out of the textbook and into the city’s most vibrant streets.
As part of this National Day weekend celebration, participants will embark on a light-hearted walking trail around The Foundry and the historic Bras Basah Bugis district. Discover hidden stories behind familiar landmarks, explore the roots of Singapore’s built heritage, and enjoy meaningful conversations along the way. Designed for families, history lovers, and the casually curious.
What to Expect:
- A 30-minute guided trail through iconic buildings and public art around The Foundry
- Co-exploration led by youth volunteers
- Interactive elements to encourage participation and dialogue
- Fresh perspectives on Singapore’s history in a fun, accessible format
All proceeds from this activity will be donated to the National Heritage Board, supporting efforts to preserve and promote Singapore’s shared heritage.
About the Facilitator
Kampong Kakis is a community of young Singaporeans dedicated to reconnecting peers with local heritage through bite-sized trails, pop-up workshops, and youth-friendly storytelling. By making heritage education more playful and people-driven, the group hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation of Singapore’s past.

- Each session has limited capacity. Advance registration is recommended.
- This is an outdoor walking activity and will proceed in light rain. Participants are advised to bring water, weather-appropriate gear, and comfortable shoes.
- All personal information provided will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for administrative purposes related to this event. If you have indicated interest, we may also notify you about future workshops or events.
- If you are unable to attend, please inform your facilitator as soon as possible so that your spot may be offered to another interested participant.
By purchasing a ticket for any of our events or workshops, you are agreeing to the terms & conditions as set out by the vendor as well as the following generic terms & conditions:
- In the event of low attendance, The Social Space reserve all rights to cancel/reschedule the event/workshop. You will receive an email notice at least 48-hours prior and be given the choice to attend the next event/workshop or get a full refund.
- If you are not able to make it for the event/workshop, please let us know as least 7-days in advance. We will refund the amount paid, minus a 15% handling and credit card processing fee.
- Photographs and videos will be taken during event/workshop and may be used for our training and marketing purposes. Participants with any concern should inform The Social Space prior to the event/workshop.
- Participant agrees to indemnify The Social Space and our event/workshop partners against any damages or injuries that may be sustained to themselves, or their belongings, during the event/workshop.
- The Social Space reserves all rights to seek compensation for any damage to our space or furniture, or injury to the instructor.
- The Social Space reserves all rights to make changes or update these terms and conditions whenever necessary. In case of any dispute, we reserve all rights to make the final decision.
