Liberty Society was founded in 2019 with the aim of abolishing injustice. They wanted to give purpose and dignity back to marginalized women whose voices were taken away, those who are shackled by the chains of poverty and hopelessness. They started through fashion, as they were born to use fashion for freedom.
There are 200+ refugees from Middle East and African countries who are located in Serpong, Indonesia alone - living off development funds that are barely enough to support their families' basic needs. They spend their hours at home, unable to have basic rights like education.
Liberty Society started the 'House of Freedom', located in Serpong to provide sewing training as well as language, arts, and other enrichment classes for these refugee women and their children. The community come to their center to find refuge, a sense of community, and livelihood. Other resources provided at the House of Freedom are food distribution, educational workshops, and community gatherings to foster community. Their training-to-employment model means that they set each woman on the path to earning a living wage and becoming productive at least 40 hours a week
10% of their products sold at Liberty Society is reinvested into training classes that support their refugee women trainees so they can continue to learn and create.
Through Liberty Society, they hope to contribute to creating a better world - a more loving & just society.
