After two meaningful years, the time has come for us to say goodbye to our DUO Galleria outlet. It’s a decision we never thought of having to make — and one that comes with a very heavy heart 😭.
DUO has been more than just a cafe or shop to us, it’s been a space where we could gather, host events, workshops and build something meaningful together. But as the landscape around us shifts and costs continue to rise, we’ve had to make the tough call to close our doors at DUO on Friday, 23 May 2025.
This isn’t just a farewell, it’s a celebration of all the moments, milestones, and memories we’ve shared together here 🎉.
What DUO meant to Us
When we first opened DUO, we imagined a place that could bring people together in thoughtful, intentional ways. Over the years, it became just that and more!
We filled this space with:
✨ Pop-ups featuring local and sustainable brands
💬 Workshops and talks that sparked meaningful conversations
☕ Cozy corners for co-working and catching up
🌱 Collaborations that empowered creatives and changemakers
At the heart of DUO was our commitment to sustainability 🌿, which has always aligned with our mission. We’ve been proud to work with brands that share our values of responsible production, ethical sourcing, and waste reduction, creating a space where sustainability was more than just a buzzword — it was a way of life.
When we first opened, our goal was to create a space that could expand beyond our original Kreta Ayer flagship outlet, reaching more people, spreading the message of conscious living, and supporting like-minded creators. DUO became a place where sustainability and creativity could thrive together, and we are grateful for the community that helped make that vision a reality 🤝.
Why We are Leaving
This decision wasn’t made lightly.
Over time, the environment around us changed. Construction slowly encroached on our space, nearby shops closed, and rental costs continued to rise. As a bootstrapped social enterprise with smaller margins and a community-first approach, it became increasingly difficult to make it work.
We stayed for as long as we could because this space meant something to us. But in the end, we had to focus on what’s best for our future and make tough choices so that we can continue to grow.
