Working at TSS started out as a mere part-time stint with no attachment whatsoever during my gap year. However after spending close to two years here, I left the cafe gaining so much more than I thought I would.
Being a small bunch, I really got to see the good, the bad, and the occasional ugly. Through all the unpredictable times when Covid was at it’s peak, to the bustling weekends and sometimes weekdays, it was always the people that made it worthwhile. (Kinda cheesy I know SOZ but it's true)
Many first hellos and last goodbyes were said during my time here and I’ll always be thankful for being able to be in the company of such genuine people everyday. Being here, I met many individuals from different walks of lives and got to see and hear their stories, struggles and evident strength. It made me properly realise how sometimes I just have to accept things as they are and work around it as no amount of brooding would change it.
Also not forgetting all the cute dogs, (sometimes cats and if we’re lucky, parrots/otters even) that undeniably lifted everyone's spirits a lil' when they came. Guilty of sometimes looking forward to see the pets more than their owners 😅
Things at TSS may not always be peachy and dandy 24/7 as it's more than a regular F&B establishment but, no regrets going for that interview with hawaiian shirt-clad Daniel in 2020 that led me to such amazing experiences. To every patron, thank you for still supporting us through it all. The people behind your toasts and coffees are eternally grateful.
I hope whoever walks in the cafe will always have a chill time surrounded by good food and great people :-)
With Love,Munira(Cafe Assistant from Aug 20 - Present)
