Artisan origins: Kabul, Afghanistan.
A statement piece embellished with an eclectic mix of uncut emerald crystals and Lapis Lazuli. The shape of the EESAR Ring is inspired by the ancient Persian bowls of old. 'Eesar' means ‘abundance’ in Persian.
Afghanistan sits at the heart of Central Asia, at the meeting point of ancient trade routes – the Silk Roads – that go out to all parts of Asia. The cities that were located along the Silk Roads included Balkh, Bamiyan, Herat, Badakhshan and Kabul. One of the key goods native to Afghanistan that was widely traded along these routes was lapis lazuli. This jewelry features local stones such as Lapis Lazuli and Bamiyan Turquoise.
- Materials : Lapis lazuli and emerald crystal centrepiece, with gold-plated brass ring enclosure. Lead & nickel free.
- Dimensions : 2.5 cm in diameter.
Please keep in a dry and cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight. To polish your artisan jewelry, use a wedge of lemon, and polish along the surface with a small cotton towel.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Artisan & Fox is an ethical marketplace seeking to connect you to extraordinary craftsmanship sourced from across the Majority World. They empower artisans - silversmiths, weavers, and other makers alike - who are cut off from international markets; be it due to infrastructural barriers, political and societal unrest, or rural conditions.
They only collaborate with independent artisans, artisan cooperatives, and certified non-profits, and work to ensure that artisans receive 50% of the profits from your purchase. Their remaining profits are reinvested into their social programmes, such as zero-interest micro-credit (Thrive Transfers), and their pro-bono outreach with Syrian refugees (Threads of Syria).
